About Space in Melbourne is a lighting design company that works with Swinburne University to create a yearly design challenge. Create a lamp that makes use of the About Space 'Yosh' connector.
The initial prototype was delivered late 2023 by About Space and makes use of a concrete base and frosted glass diffuser.
There will also be several diffuser styles available when the product goes on sale in early 2024.
By making use of natural materials, I was able to fulfill a market not yet fully realised at About Space. Traditionally their designs used predominantly brass and aluminium, I wanted to take the design in a different direction while staying true to the brand.
Personally I think I prefer the white design but with a different diffuser, maybe a clear glass, the black could pop.
